Hamas rejects Amnesty report on resistance as biased and inaccurate

The Hamas movement has rejected a recent report by Amnesty International that accused the Palestinian resistance of committing crimes during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023. The report alleges violations during attacks targeting the Gaza Division of the “Israeli” occupation forces.

In a press statement, Hamas described the report’s claims as “biased and suspicious”, asserting that it includes factual inaccuracies and contradictions. The movement noted that these claims are inconsistent with documented findings from multiple human rights organizations, including some based in “Israel”.

According to Hamas, the report falsely accused the resistance of destroying hundreds of homes and facilities. The movement stated that the “Israeli” occupation was responsible for the destruction, using tanks and warplanes. It also rejected claims about the killing of civilians, pointing out that some of those deaths were documented as resulting from the use of the Hannibal Protocol by “Israeli” forces.

The statement emphasized that the Amnesty International report aligns with the occupation’s narrative and ignores independently verified evidence of “Israeli” actions.
Accusations of falsehoods and distortion of facts
Hamas condemned the repetition of allegations made by the “Israeli” government regarding rape, sexual violence, and abuse of captives, describing them as fabrications. It stressed that such accusations have been denied by various international investigations and human rights reports.

The movement said the report amounts to incitement and an attempt to discredit the Palestinian resistance, and urged Amnesty International to withdraw what it called a “false and unprofessional” report.

Hamas accused Amnesty of undermining ongoing international legal proceedings, warning that such reports distract from the war crimes and genocide being investigated by the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice.

The statement called on international organizations to focus on the verified crimes committed by the occupation, rather than adopting its narrative to delegitimize the Palestinian struggle.

Access Denied to International Investigators in Gaza
The movement also highlighted that since the beginning of the war on Gaza, the occupation has barred international organizations and UN bodies from entering the Strip. Independent investigative teams have also been denied access to the field, making it impossible to conduct direct and transparent fact-finding missions.

Hamas concluded that any reports created without on-the-ground access are by definition “incomplete and lacking”, and fail to professionally assess responsibility for the events unfolding in Palestine.
