US pushing for Israeli ‘surgical operation’ in Gaza

There is evidence that the public posture US officials are putting forward is that the US has Israel’s back.

But the private conversations they are having with Israeli officials involves pushing for a so-called surgical operation in Gaza involving aircraft and other special forces.

This push comes after US President Joe Biden and other US officials returned from Israel last week with worries.

Firstly, they felt that Israel didn’t have a high-degree plan to eliminate Hamas. Another worry was that the ground offensive would hinder hostage negotiations that have so far proven successful. Lastly, they were also worried that a dramatic ground offensive with so many civilians involved would only create a wider conflict in the region.
