Mufti Khalid, central leader of TTP political council killed in Afghanistan

Shiite News: The bullet riddled body of Mufti Khalid, a TTP shura member, has been found in Kunar province of Afghanistan. He was killed by unknown individuals during the trip, local police said.

Mufti Khalid was originally from Buner / Swat and was a close associate of TTP Mullah Fazlullah. He was the mastermind of a suicide VBIED attack on an election rally in 2008 (36 killed and 17 injured).
He planned and facilitated the APS, Bacha Khan University and PAF base Badhaber terrorist attacks (issued fatwas justifying the TTP’s actions).

He was appointed head of the TTP’s political council in 2013 by Mullah Fazlullah. At the time, he was overseeing TTP affairs in Nangarhar Province. Mufti Khalid was also the liaison between RAW and the TTP.

Security analysts believe his death was a blow to power between the Swati group (Qari Amjad Naib Amir from Swat, led by the TTP) and the Mehsud group (headed by Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud, the current TTP Ameer). It is a result of a fight.
