Pakistan honestly intends to expand trade ties with Iran despite US sanctions, said Prime Minister’s Adviser on Commerce, Textile, Industries and Production Abdul Razak Dawood.
In an interview, he cited that mainly US sanctions was hampering Iran-Pakistan banking ties.

However, he expressed hope that both Pakistan and Iran can find a genuine way forward to do more business.

The PM Imran Khan’s adviser hailed ongoing Iranian delegation visit to Pakistan.

He lauded Iranian Industry, Mining and Trade Minister Reza Rahmani led visit because he noted the last Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting held in 2015. He also noted a very very long gap.

Furthermore, Razak Dawood said when he visited Iran he had very good and constructive discussion with his Iranian counterpart.

He referred that his Iran visit has hastened the 8th JTC in Islamabad.

Most importantly, he said he had invited Iranian minister because both sides needed to communicate and understand each others’ position.

Moreoverm the adviser lamented Pak-Iran trade gone down to approximately US $ 400 million. He admitted issues from both sides but he vowed to increase trade with Iran, so he was very much looking forward to it.

He said he put all the issues on the table during his Iran visit and so did Iranian commerce minister.
