Shaaban, another sacred month of Islamic lunar calendar begins today

Sha’aban moon was sighted in Pakistan on Saturday and today (Sunday) is first of Shaban, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced.

Shaaban also is a holy month for both Sunni and Shia Muslims as per traditions of Prophet of Islam and Humanity Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH). This month is attributed to God’s last apostle Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH).
The birth anniversaries of Bibi Zainab (1st Shaaban), Imam Hussain (3rd Shaaban), Hazrat Abbas (4th), Hazrat Qasim (7th), Hazrat Ali Akbar (11th) fall in this month.
The night between 14th and 15th Shaaban is also sacred for Sunni and Shia Muslims and in Pakistan it is also called Shab-e-Barat to indicate this night is night of servitude to Allah Almighty to repent sins and seek His pardon. This is also known as Neemah Shaaban or half of Shaaban because of completion of first fortnight.
From neemah Shaaban night to 15th of Shaaban is celebrated to mark the birthday of Hazrat Imam Mahdi (AS).
This month has one mourning day on 5th Shaaban, the death anniversary of Bibi Fizzah.
