Karachi Commissioner Peace Committee member subjected to enforced disappearance
An eminent Shia member of Karachi Commissioner’s Peace Committee from district West has been taken into undeclared custody in a midnight raid and since then his whereabouts have not been made known.
The cops in plainclothes arrived at the house of Syed Sibte Asghar son of Syed Shakir Hussain at midnight between February 28 and March 1 and took him along with them in a white Corolla car. Neither he nor his family was informed about charges against him.
Sibte Asghar has been a member of Karachi Commissioner’s Peace Committee and a known person to local officials of Karachi administration.
His family and comrades have contacted the top government officials based in Karachi and lodged their complaint with them after police said Sibte Asghar was not under their custody.
Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Karachi chapter has demanded Sindh Governor, Chief Minister and all other concerned high officials to ensure immediate release of Sibte Asghar who is a law-abiding peaceful citizen.
