Zaireen stuck in Taftan on border with Iran for two week
Thousands of Shia pilgrims (Zaireen) have been stuck at Taftan border town on return from pilgrimage of Iraq and Iran because they have been denied security to proceed to Quetta for two weeks.
The Zaireen, majority of which hails from Gilgit-Baltistan, blocked main National High to protest against prolonging their stay at Taftan border town. They demanded that they should be given needed security to move to Quetta immediately.
These affected Shia pilgrims also marched on the highway but no civilian or security official bothered to come to talk to them and address their genuine grievance.
Lower-middle class Pakistanis go to Iran and Iraq for pilgrimage via Taftan land border with Iran because they cannot afford air travel expenses. Hence, these cash-starved Zaireen cannot afford uncalled for long stay at Taftan.
If the security officials and civilian government cannot provide them security and want them to prolong stay at Taftan, then they should provide them all sort of free of cost services to them from shelter to food because it is not Zaireen’s fault and they should not be punished for the unwanted stay in Taftan.
