Prime Minister’s adviser to meet State Bank governor to solve banking problem with Iran

Pakistan adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce, Textile, Industries, Production and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has said that Iranian Ambassador in a meeting has shared with him three options and now he will have a meeting with State Bank governor on how to solve the banking problem with Iran in view of those options.

He said he held a meeting with Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost. He told an Iranian official news agency correspondent that he had a useful meeting with the Iranian envoy during which economic issues between the two countries were discussed. He said he would like to see much greater trade with Iran which is Pakistan’s next door neighbor
He said that Iranian ambassador gave many points during the meeting. He said ‘we have got issues of banking, issues of electricity, gas, some of our products go to Iran and we would like to trade more with Iran. I would certainly look into these things as I would like to see much greater trade with Iran.’
“I had a very good meeting with Ambassador of Iran and we talked about how we can enhance the trade between the two countries,” he said.
The minister added ‘I am in full support of boosting trade with Iran and I would like to see trade growing between Iran and Pakistan.’
“I would like to see trade with Iran very well. I believe that it is good for Pakistan to do trade with all of its neighbors,” he added.
Leaders of Iran and Pakistan had already agreed to enhance bilateral trade volume to $5 billion within next five years. The current volume between Iran and Pakistan stands at $1.3 billion.
