Arbaeen anniversary of Imam Hussain’s martyrdom being observed in Pakistan

The Chehlum anniversary of Hazrat Imam Hussain and other martyrs of the Karbala tragedy that is also called Arbaeen-e-Hussaini or Arbaeen is being observed today with traditional religious solemnity and spirit in all districts of Pakistan.

The Chehlum anniversary is observed 40 days after the Day of Ashura every year on 20th Safar to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his 72 companions who were assassinated by Umayyad despot and tyrant ruler Yazid’s brutal army in the imposed battle of Karbala on 10th Muharram in 61 A.H.
In Karachi, the main congregation highlighting the sacrifices of great martyrs of Karbala was held at Nishtar Park. A central mourning procession has been taken out from Nishtar Park to reach Hussainia Iranian Imambargah Kharadar marching through Saddar and MA Jinnah Road.
Reports from rest of Pakistan had it Chehlum mourning processions were brought out to pay homage to Imam Hussain and his loyal companions.
