Anniversary of Imamzadah Abdullah Shah Ghazi being held at his shrine

Thousands of devotees have begun reaching the sacred shrine of Imamzadah Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi to participate in the three-day urs from Zilhaj 20 to 22.

Syed Abdullah known as Abdullah Shah Ghazi is great grandson of Imam Hassan (AS). This ninth-century great Muslim saint, is considered the saviour of Karachi city from natural disasters. He had made Sindh his abode and was laid to rest on a then-secluded hilly area facing the Sea, now called Clifton.
The shrine remains under the administrative control of Auqaf Department, Government of Sindh.
The Urs ceremony began on Saturday and will be concluded by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on September 3.
Mayor of Karachi, Waseem Akhtar has also announced holiday in all departments and affiliated institutions of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on September 3, on account of the Urs.
The devotees lay floral wreaths at the grave and offer fateha there. Apart from special prayers, recitation from Quran, Mehfil-e-Samaa also is held to pay respect to the great Islamic saint.
