Missing Shia Muslims remembered on International Day of the Disappeared
Those innocent Shia Muslims who have gone missing and believed to have been subjected to enforced disappearance were remembered on the International Day of Disappeared yesterday.
Engineer Mumtaz Rizvi, religious scholar Zaheeruddin Babar and many other notables were among those over 100 Shia Muslims who have been detained illegally.
Protest rallies and movement were held. Seminars and conferences were held to raise the issue of those missing persons but relevant authorities have failed to produce them in the court of law. This was the demand of all that if there is any case against such persons, they should be tried in the court of law otherwise they should be released but undeclared detention is nothing but contempt of court and law.
Rashid Rizvi, head of Shia Missing Persons Release Committee addressed a rally outside Karachi Press Club where he made clear that no new Pakistan came into being with the success of the PTI in elations. He demanded that Imran Khan-led government should take concrete steps for release of missing Shia Muslims forthwith.
