Daughter asks Prime Minister Imran to ensure release of Mumtaz Rizvi
In an open letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, daughter of Engineer Syed Mumtaz Hussain Rizvi has urged that the PM Khan must ensure immediate recovery of his missing father.
Engineer Rizvi, a Shia Muslim notable, an editor of an Urdu Science Magazine “Ilm-O-Hirfat,” and a businessman of computer, was also doing Ph.D. from Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University formerly known as SZABIST.
His daughter wrote in open letter the entire true story that was narrated by her mother who sent letters to Chief Justice of Pakistan and other higher authorities including Chief of the Army Staff.
She said that Engr. Mumtaz Hussain Rizvi, a resident of Karachi, had gone missing since January 23, 2018. The family lodged complaint with Sachal Police Station Karachi about it but his whereabouts have not been made known to them till to date. She said they checked all hospitals and rescue agencies, including Edhi Foundation but none of them had any information about Syed Mumtaz Hussain Rizvi.
She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the nation encouraged her to write the open letter because PM Khan talked of rule of law in Pakistan. She said that PM Khan spoke about Medina-like state in Pakistan. She said hundreds of innocent Shia Muslims, including Engr. Mumtaz Rizvi had gone missing.
It is believed that these people were subjected to enforced disappearance and for their release and recovery, Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi and Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi of MWM backed by Shia Missing Persons Release Committee had led a campaign and protest was lodged and even they offered them for voluntarily arrest to register their protest.
She urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to ensure that either these people should be released forthwith or should be produced in the court of law if there is any case against him.
She said that affected families feel them helpless and children feel themselves orphans. Their bread-earners are not among them and their families cannot make both ends meet due to lack of cash that was earned by those taken into undeclared custody.
Mumtaz Rizvi’s daughter said that she should be told if she has been orphaned? Should her mother be called widow? She asked what their status without her father is. She demanded that justice be done to all the affected families and missing persons forthwith.
