Pakistan Army Chief of General Staff meets IRGC Commander in Tehran
Chief of General Staff of Pakistan Army Lt-General Bilal Akbar has met commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force during his visit to Tehran where Pakistan’s chief of general staff has underlined promotion of security at the two countries’ joint borders.
During their meeting, Mohammad Pakpour and General Bilal Akbar underlined deepening the military and security relations between Tehran and Islamabad.
They also stressed the importance of intelligence sharing and fighting terrorists at the border areas.
The Iranian and Pakistani official called for promotion of unity and solidarity among Islamic countries, in particular between Iran and Pakistan.
Allegations had it that Iran-Pakistan border areas have become a safe haven for terrorist groups’ activities. The reason for those charges is the incidents of infiltration into Iran and attacks on their border guards or security officials. Last Tuesday, armed bandits killed three Iranian Basij volunteer forces and wounded eight others in Mirjaveh in southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan and escaped to the Pakistani part of the border, according to Iranian officials.
Mirjaveh is a town in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. It is the main road crossing point between Iran and Pakistan.
