Police taken remand of Zaki Kazimi on Saudi Consulate case
Detained Zaki Kazmi alias Kamran, who was allegedly involved in the hand grenade attack on the Saudi consulate, was remanded to the physical custody of the Crime branch of Karachi Police for a week on Monday.
They asked for remand, stating that he belonged to the outlawed ‘Lashkar-e-Mehdi’ group.The Police claimed that detained Zaki Kazmi was also involved in an attack on a mosque and in sectarian killings.
The Crime Branch Police requested custody to collect evidence and arrest his accomplices. The judge granted the request till November 28.
However, the police has also taken the remand of two detained persons Mohsin and Mohammad Ali Kazmi on sectarian killing cases of the rival sects.
It may be noted here that the Police had detained the Shia men Zaki Kazmi, Mohammad Ali Kazmi, Mohsin, Safdar Abbas and Tabish on 16th of November from their houses situated at Gulberg, Gulistan-e-Johar and Buffer Zone areas.
However, Shaheed Tabihs Hussain alias Asif (Muna), was killed by the Police forces in a fake encounter on Sunday and alleged that he was the prime suspect in the attack on Saudi consulate attack.
Police said the encounter ensued near Rabiya City in Gulistan-e-Jauhar when they raided the area with the help of Tabish alias Asif’s companions, Zaki alias Kamran, Mohsin and Mohammad Ali Kazmi. They were arrested from the Eidgah area the same day.
However, the detained Safdar Abbas was released by the Police on Monday night because of the lack of evidences , however , Senior Shia Cleric Maulan Hassan Zafar said that he was engaged in the negotiations with the government to release the remaining three detained persons including Mohammad Ali Kazmi, Mohsin and Zaki Kazmi.
