9 Shia Muslims detained for defending Shia mosque and alam pak in Skardu

Nine innocent Shia Muslims were put behind the bars for their only “sin” that they prevented the biased Deputy Commissioner from razing Shia mosque and alam pak in Skardu.

Reports from Skardu say that the corrupt SSP Wazir Aijaz enjoying support from Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Mehdi Shah was trying to construct a hotel on encroached plot and for that purpose he wants to demolish Shia mosque and alam (flag-banner) to expand his hotel’s premises.

Deputy Commissioner wanted to help the SSP Wazir Aijaz and he asked police to help raze the mosque and alam pak. However, Shia Muslims reached the venue and warned the corrupt Deputy Commissioner and the Police not to violate the sanctity of sacred mosque and alam.

To take revenge from the Shiites, DC asked police to arrest the Shia Muslims and police complied with his orders. They booked many Shiites in false case and arrested 9 Shiites of Choomak who are still behind the bars.

The biased action by corrupt officials and arrest and detention of innocent Shiites evoked instant reaction from the Shiites who staged a sit-in outside police station Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s Agha Ali Rizvi led the protestors. However, till the filing of this report by Shiite News Correspondent, innocent Shiites were not released.

Those named in the false FIR were: Yousuf son of Ghulam Mehdi, Rustam son of Haji Yousuf, Basharat son of Moosa, Qazi Asif Abbas, Mohammad Jameel, Safdar and other Shia youths.
