Shia Ulema Council stages sit-in to protest against Shia genocide in Taftan

SUC-sitt-in10-06-2014Shia Ulema Council staged a sit-in on main M.A. Jinnah Road to protest against the massacre of Shia pilgrims in Taftan, Pakistani border town near Iran. The SUC leaders warned to stage a sit-in on June 13 in front of Sindh Assembly.

“I ask Maumineen (faithful) to wait for our call on June 13. After consulting Shia scholars we shall inform you of June 13 sit-in. It is likely we will get together outside of Sindh Assembly on June 13,” said Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi, secretary general of the SUC Sindh chapter speaking to the protestors.

 Deputy Speaker Shehla Reza who hails from the Sindh’s ruling Pakistan People’s Party also participated in the rally. Allama Shabbir Meesami, Allama Jafar Subhani and other officials were also present, Shiite News Correspondent reported.     

Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen also staged a sit-in at same place on Monday evening. Ali Hussain Naqvi, Maulana Ali Anwar Jafari and others spoke to the protestors.

The SUC also staged a sit-in on main national highway in Malir. Traffic was blocked. Shiites were raising slogans of Labbaik Ya Hussain (AS).
