Rawalpindi Police has launched a witch-hunt against Shia youths by rounding up more than 150 during midnight raids in which they used ladders to storm into the houses.
Shiite News Correspondent reported here that Rawalpindi police working under federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, launched a crackdown on the peaceful and law abiding Shiites.
Police tortured the Shiites severely during interrogation and forced them to confess the uncommitted crimes. Police had to release several of them after their torture, threats and pressure failed to get desired confessions.
Till the filing of this report, 35 Shiites still remain under the custody of the police.
The relatives have complained that police cops scaled the walls and also used ladders to jump inside the houses. They complained that sanctity of chadar and char divari was violated and women and children were harassed, and in many cases, were also thrashed.
