Pakistan supports Bahrain to crush uprising

pakistani sourcesThe government of Pakistan has accepted the request of Bahraini Wahabi monarchy to send more Pakistani troops to crush the popular uprising in Bahrain.

According to the Shiite News Monitoring Desk, the ABNA Urdu Service reported  that the Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in his recent visit to Bahrain has assured the Bahraini King Hamad bin Issa Al-Khalifa to bolster the ties between two countries on every sector and agreed

upon further promoting the existing Pakistan-Bahrain bilateral ties through enhanced economic interactions, promotion and facilitation of business community, providing mutual support to meet each another’s requirements, and taking advantage of the shared perceptions on a host of issues and work hand in hand for the stability and peace of the region. 

The meeting took place here at King’s Palace in Bahrain duringPresident Zardari’s brief visit to Bahrain on the invitation of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. 

The sources said that the King of Bahrain urged the Pakistani President to support the monarchy as the countrywide demonstration of the Shiite Muslims were created trouble for the Wahabi’s kingdom.

Following pro-democracy protests in Bahrain in March, rights groups have said that the Arab country recruited at least 2,500 former servicemen from Pakistan to bolster the strength of its national guard and riot police by 50 per cent.

Former Pakistani soldiers and paramilitary personnel have for long served in Bahrain’s security forces.

The Pakistani troops were at the forefront of efforts to suppress Shia protesters demanding equal rights after years of oppression at the hands of Bahrain’s Sunni minority.

However, Pakistan’s President Official spokesman Farhatullah Babar said that other matters that came under discussion during the meeting included Pakistan’s ongoing fight against extremism and the regional situation with special reference to that of Middle East.
