Majlis Wehdat vows not to accept restriction on Muharram processions

mwmMajlis Wehdat Muslimeen (MWM) leaders on Friday rejected the government of Sindh decision to close the main markets of the metropolis from 6th of Muharram, which are situated at the route of procession.

Addressing the hurriedly called press conference at Karachi press club, Central Spokesman of MWM, Maulana Hassan Zafar Naqvi termed that the government one-sided decision to close the markets from 6th of Muharram is a conspiracy against the Shia community of the metropolis. He demanded of the government to immediately withdraw the notification to close the markets from 6th of the Muharram.

He asked the government to take Shia leaders into the confidence on the decisions regarding the Muharram-ul-Harram security arrangements saying that the community has not demanded the closure of markets from the 6th Muharram.

Maulana Hassan Zafar said that the government decision of shut-down the markets from 6th of Muharram to Ashura is creating hatred and confusion among the Karachiites.

He said that this is the responsibility of the Ulema’s from all school of thoughts not to use provoking statements against each-other and sabotage the brotherly environment of Karachi.

 

He underlined the need of foolproof security arrangements in the metropolis including Orangi Town, Qasba Colony, Aligarh Colony, Raees Amrohi Coloy and Korangi areas during the Muharram processions saying that unsatisfactory security arrangements were witnessed in these areas.

Criticizing the government over the failure to control the activities of banned-outfits, he urged the government to immediately take the notice of the activities of banned terrorist’s outfits in Sindh and Karachi and sealed the offices of banned outfits forthwith.

He said that the graffiti containing hatred materials were appeared in various districts and areas of Sindh and Karachi, which is creating tense situation in these areas and asked the government to clean this graffiti.

He vowed that Azadari Imam Hussain (AS) is our constitutional right saying that we would not tolerate any conspiracy to restrict the mourning processions.
