Teenager Shia Muslim student kidnapped and shot dead in Karachi

The body of a Shia Muslim student, kidnapped on February 7, 2018 was found in an abandoned bogie in Karachi’s City Railway Colony, police said yesterday, adding that the victim was murdered for sectarian-motivated reasons.

Daniyal was abducted on Mauripur Road (Kalri Police limits) near his school. Then, the family received an SMS from Daniyals’s cell phone number in which kidnappers demanded Rs1.5 million ransom.
The family had lodged complaint with the police but since then, no further contact was made by abductors nor could police ascertain the whereabouts of Daniyal. Now, his bullet-riddled body was found. He was shot in chest and abdomen.
The macabre murder of Daniyal, 17, is an eye-opener for the security officials and government who had been claiming peace in Karachi but failed to recover a kidnapped but innocent Shia teenager.
