Six Pakistani nationals detained at US prison in Guantanamo Bay
At least six Pakistani nationals have been detained by the US administration at the infamous Guantanamo Bay prison where a few dozen prisoners —terror suspects, have been held indefinitely, for the most part without fair trials. They were detained because of their links to al-Qaeda, according to the US.
It is interesting and amazing that UN Human Rights Council and many around the world demand their release or fair trial but there is nobody who feel pain for those innocent Pakistani Shia Muslims who were subjected to enforced disappearance without making public their whereabouts and without producing them in the courts of law.
This week a group of independent experts reporting to the UN Human Rights Council have asked for the release of Pakistani national Ammar al-Baluchi while condemning both detainee conditions and the use of degrading interrogation techniques. Ammar al-Baluchi was held for acts of terrorism (he was briefly married to Aafia Siddiqui, and is a nephew of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed). Ahmed Rabbani, a taxi driver has been detained since 2002.
