Over 30 K pilgrims cross Taftan border for Arbaeen in Karbala via Iran

More than 30 thousand Pakistani pilgrims have left Quetta for Arbaeen pilgrimage in Karbala via Taftan land border with Iran and from there to Iraq. At least 200,000 Pakistani pilgrims will join Arbaeen walk from Najaf to Karbala as the majority preferred air travel due to many problems in land travelling.

Last night, 130 more buses from Alamdar Road and 103 buses from Hazara Town Quetta left for Taftan and with them all the Shia pilgrims have left Quetta for Arbaeen (Chehlum) pilgrimage in Karbala.
In the past, the majority of pilgrims preferred land travel but due to lack of adequate security arrangements, lack of needed facilities and unjustifiable hurdles in the smooth travelling to Taftan from Quetta and from Taftan to Quetta by the security and administrative officials have compelled the majority to prefer air travel to avoid problems.
