Shia Missing Persons Release Committee announced an end to the protest sit-in outside Sindh Governor House in Karachi after Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal gave assurance about those in police custody that police will produce those named in any case in the courts and release innocents among them.

The minister said that he can only give assurance on behalf of his authority because he has no control over other security agencies as they are under federal government’s control.
Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi, Allama Ahmed Iqbal, Allama Dr Aqeel Moosa, Rashid Rizvi and Sagheer Abid held talks with the Home Minister while families of the missing Shias were protesting at a sit-in after taking out a rally from Malir to Governor House.
These Shia leaders announced that they would resume their protest on Arbaeen (Chehlum) anniversary if the practical steps were not taken to resolve the issue of enforced disappearances of Shia Muslims.
