Allama Arif Wahidi, General Secretary, Shia Ulema Council, has demanded that all Shia pilgrims should be allowed unimpeded and safe travelling from Taftan to Quetta and the authorities should not test the patients of Shia Muslims by creating hurdles in their way on the basis of lame excuses.
Talking to the SUC Punjab information secretary Professor Zulfiqar Haider, he said, Pakistani Shia Muslims were being denied their right to travel for pilgrimage in Iran and Iraq via Iran.
“It is intolerable for all of us. It is shameful that pretexts are being presented to prevent Shia pilgrims so that they could be discouraged to go to pilgrimage on Arbaeen,” he said, adding that unjustifiable pretexts are not acceptable.
He said that government and the security agencies should facilitate their safe traveling without any delay so that maximum numbers of Shia pilgrims could cross Taftan border with Iran to join Arbaeen Walk from Najaf to Karbala.
He warned that Shia Muslims would have to resort to protest if their genuine demand was not met forthwith.
