Religious parties stage rallies to protest against Rana Sanaullah

Activists of Tehrik Khatm-i-Nabuwat and four other religious parties took out rallies on Thursday and Friday at Lakar Mandi and other parts in Sargodha and chanted slogans against Rana Sanaullah over his pro-Qadiani/Ahmadi comments.

They announced that quite a number of activists of many religio-political parties protested in the city after Friday prayers. Among the parties are Tehrik Khatum-e-Nabuwat, Jamaat Ahle Hadith, Pakistan Awami Tehrik and Jamaat Ahle Sunnat.
Maulana Muhammad Akram Toofani and Ziaullah Sania in a press conference hit out at the law minister who, they said, had betrayed his ignorance of the constitutional clause about the status of the religious minority. They said all religious parties were one on the issue and would launch a movement against Rana Sanaullah and his supporters.
Qari Abdul Waheed and Riasat Ali Ferozi said earlier there were efforts to change the clause of oath in the election bill.
The Jamaat-i-Islami also announced that it would present a resolution in Friday congregations in the city mosques to condemn Rana Sanaullah’s recent remarks.
Reports said that soon after the call for protest police cracked down on leaders of these parties and arrested 15 of them. Some activists and prominent leaders got the scent of the police action and went into hiding.
Police higher-ups and district administration, however, denied arrest of any leader or activist. They said they would not let anyone spoil peace of the city.
