Ashura observed in Parachinar as army serves Shia mourners with niaz

Shia Muslims of Parachinar observed Ashura with religious reverence yesterday as soldiers of Pakistan Army set up special stalls of niaz and sabeel in Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram Agency to serve the thirsty and hungry azadars who observed traditional fast (faqa, not roza) till Asr.

Ashura, on the 10th day of Muharram, the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain Ibn-e-Ali (AS), one of the two grandsons of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) occurred, and is marked by large public commemorations by Muslims every year mainly the Shia Muslims.
The Moharram Azadari or mourning witnessed unmatched show of unity of Muslims in Parachinar where Sunni tribal notables and scholars largely attended the mourning congregations to mark solidarity with the Shia mourners.
