Religio-political parties begin exploring anti-govt alliance
Like-minded religio-political parties have begun exploring the possibility of formation of an alliance on common agenda aimed at pressuring the Prime Minister to resign due to his involvement in financial corruption though offshore companies and money laundering.
So far Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Sunni Ittehad Council and their allies have exchanged views on the proposed alliance.
Dr Tahir ul Qadri of the PAT enjoys support to his demand for dismissal of Punjab government led by Shahbaz Sharif and his accountability too for the Model Town massacre in which supporters of Qadri were killed brutally by trigger-happy cops.
An intelligence agency has reportedly given report that the leaders of the religio-political parties had expedited their efforts to form an alliance in the wake of JIT report regarding the Panama Papers leaks.
It is relevant to add here that PMLQ of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Ch Pervaiz Ilahi is also an ally of these three religio-political parties and they have good working relationship with the PTI of Imran Khan. Hence, possibility of a grand alliance may not be ruled out. The proposed alliance will give tough time to the Nawaz Sharif government.
