Renowned Shia scholar Allama Syed Niaz Hussain Naqvi, vice president of Milli Yakjehti Council has proposed that a joint council of Muslim countries be formed and the sacred places including shrines and mosques of Makkah and Medina should be given under the custodianship of that council instead of Saudi regime.

Talking to religious scholars in Lahore, he said, Jannat ul Baqee is sacred Islamic heritage that must be preserved. He said that demolition of Medina graveyard of Jannat ul Baqee was a historic tragedy that Muslims around the world have not forgotten.
“Centuries old sacred shrines were never harmed by any Sunni and Shia Muslim throughout the history but he stooges of imperialist forces destroyed the shrines and graves of eminent figures of Islamic history,” he said.
Allama Niaz further said that the shrines and graves of family members and companions of Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), the last apostle of God and Prophet of Islam and humanity, were razed angering the Muslims around the world and it is natural that Muslims detest those who demolished these shrines.
He said House of Saud is an ally of the US and Zionist regime hence the Saudi royals are not competent for custodianship of the sacred shrines of Islam in Makkah and Medina.
