Deobandi terrorist held in Bhakkar for target killings in Dera Ismail Khan

A Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) team from Bhakkar said to have arrested a terrorist belonging to a banned Deobandi terrorist organisation and seized explosives from his possession. He planned a terrorist activity against civilians.

The terrorist was identified as Muhammad Sharif alias Shah Jahan belonging to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (Abdullah Azzam Brigade).
The CTD team also seized 3kg of explosives, three detonators, two safety fuses and 815 grammes of ball bearings from his possession. A case under sections 4/5 ESA and 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) was registered against the suspect.
A CTD spokesman said that arrested TTP terrorist confessed to his involvement in a targeted killing in Dera Ismail Khan. He was shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
