Leading Shia party repudiates US Consulate invitation for meeting

Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has repudiated the invitation of Karachi-based United States diplomatic mission for a meeting, according to sources in the MWM.

Insiders disclosed that the US Consulate officials had contacted the MWM’s office bearers and invited them at a bilateral meeting but the MWM leaders refused to meet them on the ground that MWM believes that US was not a friend of independent nations, US was champion of divide and rule policy and its imperialistic and expansionist designs were known to the world.
The invitation was extended in the wake of a successful mammoth public meeting of the MWM at Nishtar Park in Karachi.
It is relevant to add here that Shia Muslims detest the United States for its support to the dictatorial and despotic monarchies of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain who are involved in war on Yemen and persecution of their own people in their countries.
