MWM’s legislator demands reinstatement of Islami Tehreek’s MLA

Haji Dr Rizwan Ali, Member of Gilgit-Baltistan’s Legislative Assembly hailing from Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has denounced the PMLN-led G-B government and speaker of the Assembly for removal of Captain Mohammad Shafi of Islami Tehreek Pakistan as chairman of standing committee and Public Accounts Committee.

“Islami Tehreek’s MLA Captain Shafi was replaced because he exercised his democratic right of difference of opinion. His removal is tantamount to a slap on the face of democracy and also amounts to the worst sort of dictatorial mindset,” he said.
MWM’s MLA said that the Opposition party’s MLAs have right to criticize the wrongdoings of the incumbent government but punishing the critics has exposed the real face of the PMLN’s Gilgit-Baltistan government. He said that opposition members are inducted into the standing committees and public accounts committee for check and balance and denying the opposition this democratic right is aimed at exempting the government of check and balance.
He also criticized the GB government for denying development schemes to the MLAs belonging to the opposition and those elected on technocrats’ seats.
Dr Rizwan Ali demanded of the government and the speaker of Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly to restore the development schemes for the opposition and technocrats and reinstate Captain Shafi on his positions.
