Blasphemous content be removed from social media forthwith, orders LHC
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday has ordered to remove blasphemous content from social media immediately. The LCH bench hearing a case has directed the authorities to eliminate the profane material from social networking websites.
LHC has also sought report from federation and interior ministry in two weeks.
Earlier, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had decided to form cyber security directorate for the surveillance of blasphemous content.
The Interior Minister told media that Facebook has assured Pakistan that concerns about blasphemous content on the social media site will be addressed and a company delegation will visit this week to discuss the issue with the government.
Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Dr. Mazhar Kakakhel submitted progress report in the court and informed that those bloggers who have escaped from the country would be brought back through red warrant.
Blasphemy is a criminal offence in the country and can carry the death penalty.
