Peaceful protest brings FIR against Shia scholars, notables in DI Khan
As many as 121 Shia Muslims including scholars and notables and mainly elderly persons have been implicated in an FIR (case) yesterday because of their protest against the targeted murders of Shiites in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a month ago.
Allama Ramzan Tauqeer of Shia Ulema Council and other Shia notables were booked in Parwa tehsil of DI Khan.
Shia Muslims had protested against the targeted murders of Saqlain Abbas, Ali Raza and Jameel on February 26, 2017. The heirs of the martyrs took the bodies to main Indus Highway and blocked the road in protest against the murders and inaction against the takfiri terrorists.
District Police Officer Yasir Afridi and Deputy Commissioner Motasim Billah had held talks with the protestors. On behalf of the heirs of the martyrs and on their request, a 5-member committee of Shia Muslims headed by renowned scholar Allama Ramzan Tauqeer represented the heirs of the martyrs in the talks. After successful talks, the protestors dispersed peacefully.
Later, the administration arrested the culprits belonging to a banned terrorist outfit. But, now an unjustifiable case has been registered against the peaceful protestors despite the fact that the administration held talks and accepted their demands as legitimate.
