It is unconstitutional to ask sectarian identity during Census: MWM

Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has declared that query about the sectarian identity of Muslims during ongoing Census is unconstitutional since the census form don’t have any space for sects of Muslims.

Nasir Abbas Shirazi, deputy secretary general of the MWM urged the government to make it mandatory for the Census staff to desist from asking the irrelevant queries from citizens of Pakistan and that they must limit themselves to the information required by Census form.
Talking to various delegates, he said, biased officials within the state institutions were the cause of religious hatred and intolerance in the country and they impede the implementation of National Action Plan. He said the terrorism spread due to such biased elements with the state institutions.
