Over 1500 Shia pilgrims stage sit-in near Pakistan-Iran border at Taftan
More than 1500 Shia pilgrims have staged a sit-in to protest against the security officials who are denying them permission to leave Taftan border area for Quetta on their return from pilgrimage of sacred shrines of Imam Reza (AS) and other Imam Zadegan in Iran.
Along with women, children and elderly persons, male pilgrims blocked the main road. They complained that they were stopped at Taftan border by Pakistani authorities a week ago and so far security officials have not provided security escorts to their 25 buses.
No facility has been provided to these Shia pilgrims. Neither potable drinking water nor hygienic food is available nor do they have shelter to stay. The pilgrims complained that security officials were harassing them.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari of MWM have demanded of the government to order the security officials to provide security escort to the pilgrims motorcade immediately so that they could reach Quetta safely and them move to their native areas.
