Two Deobandi terrorists arrested in Lahore by Counter Terrorism Department

Two Deobandi terrorists were apprehended early Wednesday, confirmed Counterterrorism department of Punjab police. The terrorists had planned to escape to Syria after killing intelligence officials in Pakistan.

A CTD spokesperson said that in a raid at Quaid-e-Azam interchange Ring Road, police arrested two members affiliated with a proscribed Deobandi organisation, Qari Ahmed and Israr Shafiq. He said that the two terrorists were planning to flee Pakistan to Syria after attacking an intelligence agency centre. Explosives, hand grenades and banned literature were recovered from them.
A case has been registered against the terrorists and for further investigations, the alleged terrorists have been shifted to an undisclosed location.
