Professor Salman Haider is not enemy of Islam, says Sunni lecturer
Sunni scholar Imran Bukhari is a follower of the late Dr Israr Ahmed who has come forward to defend Professor Salman Haider saying he cannot be declared enemy of religion but he is enemy of illiteracy and ignorance.
A lecturer at Quaid-e-Azam International University Islamabad, Imran Bukhari, has written an article on his senior colleague Salman Haider who he had accompanied since his student life.
Imran Bukhari said that there were many common points between him and Salman Haider and one of them was their concern on the fact that why the religious scholars and clerics failed to reach a common agenda to present a peaceful ideology by their actions. He said that Salman Haider, like him, criticized the illogical stance of religious people.
He said that second common point was the role of the state because both of them believe that Pakistan must be made a welfare state and the state officials should work hard for welfare of people.
He said that both of them are of the view that oppressed people must attain their legitimate rights and Pakistan be made a welfare state envisioned by the founding fathers of Pakistan. He said that Salman Haider’s only sin was his struggle for the legitimate rights of people.
