Renowned Pakistani analyst opposes Raheel Sharif in Saudi alliance
Renowned anchor person and analyst Hamid Mir has opposed the appointment of former army chief General Raheel Sharif (retired) in the Saudi-led military alliance on the ground that the alliance would heighten sectarian tension in Pakistan.
“The alliance and joining by Raheel Sharif could bring it the flames of Middle Eastern conflicts to Pakistan that is already suffering from many problems hence we need to protect Pakistani nation from sectarian fire,” he urged speaking to a private news channel (ZemTV).
He said that Raheel Sharif’s joining of the alliance would push Pakistan back to the Ziaul Haq era in which hatred were promoted in Pakistan because General Raheel Sharif has been retired and Saudis would want him to bring in retired army personnel to serve the alliance and that would have deleterious impacts on Pakistan.
