Biased Punjab Govt mounting pressure on Shiites to reduce azadari during Moharram

Biased Punjab government began mounting pressure on Shia Muslims so that they could not hold azadari programmes in a befitting manner, Shiite News learnt here.
Colonel (Retired) Shuja Khanzada, Chairman of Police Reforms Committee and Minister for Environment in the PMLN’s Punjab Government, has issued a statement, in which he said that “unregistered” congregations and processions would not be allowed. He further said that only those scholars would be allowed to speak who would be issued license by the government of Punjab.

He said that use of loudspeakers and wall-chalking would also be banned during Moharram.

His policy statement has evoked stiff protest from Shiites who said that the PMLN government and leadership that have pursued the policy of talks with the notorious terrorists should mind its business and its language.

They said that Shia Muslims are law-abiding and patriot citizens of Pakistan. They are tolerant of other sects and they never used provocative language against any person. They said that the Yazidi terrorists openly raise slogans declaring Shia Muslims as infidels and resort to anti-Shia and provocative graffiti/wall chalking.

But, Punjab government permitted them to do so and hold anti-Shia rallies. They said that Ahmed Ludhianvi and Malik Ishaq are notorious terrorists of outlawed Sipah-e-Sahaba and outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi but they are accorded government protocol.

Shiites expressed surprise over the tone and language of the Punjab Minister advising him not to lecture the peaceful Shiites but he should change his government’s hypocritical policy on the issue of terrorism.
