Azadari processions of 8th Muharram were taken out all around the country on Monday to commemorate the sacrifices of martyrs of Karbala who put an umatched resistance to tyrant misrule of Yazid, despotic ruler of Umayyad dynasty in Karbala in 61 A.H.

Millions of mourners (azadars) thronged the venues of mourning processions amid high security in place in all the cities due to threats from Saudi coreligionist takfiris.
Shia Muslims commemorate the sacrifices of Hazrat Abbas (AS), the flag bearing commander of Imam Hussain-led small army of only 72 persons. Interestingly, martyrs of Karbala buried Umayyad misrule in the dustbin of history even though they were massacred in Karbala on the Ashura Day (Moharram 10).
In Karachi, the procession was brought out from Nishtar park. Majlis-e-Aza, addressed by Maulana Muhammad Ali Naqvi, was held at the start. The procession ended at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah before Maghrib.
Shops located at MA Jinnah road and surrounding areas have been sealed whereas more than 400 policemen and Rangers personnel have been deployed for security.
In Lahore, the procession was taken out from Mori gate. In Islamabad, the main procession was taken out from Jamia Ali Murtaza Peshawar Mor which ended at G-9/2.
Processions are also being held in Multan and other small and big cities of Punjab, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Balochistan.
