Shia Muslims of Karachi staged a rally yesterday to protest against the recent targeted killings of Shiites in Karachi, Quetta and Wah Cantonment. They also registered protest against the restrictions on azadari rituals by the government authorities or law enforcement agencies.

People largely attended the rally staged at Numaish Chowrangi under the aegis of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen. Allama Mukhtar Imami, MWM spokesman led them. They were carrying banners inscribed with the slogans against restrictions of sabeel (tent or camp to offer drinking water to commemorate the thirsty Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions who were denied water in Karbala). They also chanted slogans against the Shia genocide in all over Pakistan.
Allama Imami said that in Karachi, principal of a school Mansoor Zaidi was a Shia notable and a trustee of an Imam Bargah who was ambushed by terrorists of banned outfits because the banned outfits were free to do what want at will. He said son of martyr Mansoor was also injured. He said that other Shiites were also attacked near the venue of Majlis.
He also condemned the targeted murders of Shia Hazara women in Quetta and two Shiites of Parachinar in Wah Cantonment area asking the top authorities of the State if this was their National Action Plan that on the one hand they ban entry of non-controversial qualified Shia scholars and prevent reciting noha and marsia at sabeel and remove sabeel and on the other terrorists of banned outfits enjoy freedom to continue genocide against Shia Muslims unabated? He said that restricting azadari rituals by ban on sabeel, noha marsia and Shia scholars was tantamount to encourage and embolden the genociders against Shia Muslims. He demanded capital punishment to the culprits and their facilitators including those seminaries, who educate, patronize and shelter them.
