SUC announces movement to fill jails to protest anti-azadari policies

At ‘Tahaffuz-e-Aza conference’ at Karachi’s Nishtar Park, Shia Ulema Council warned the government to begin Jail Bharo movement offering arrest in protest against the unjustifiable and illegal restrictions being imposed on azadari (mourning congregations and processions held by Shia Muslims).

The warning came from Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi, president of the SUC Sindh chapter who spoke at the conference on Sunday night. The SUC chief Allama Sajid Naqvi, Allama Shabbir Meesami and Allama Shahenshah Naqvi also spoke.  Allama Taqvi said that movement could be launched if government denied Shia their due rights to observe azadari freely.
Allama Sajid Naqvi addressed via video-link. He said that aAzadari is fundamental right of Shia Muslims and to impede azadari is illegal. He turned down all attempts that are aimed hindering Shia Muslims from azadari freely. He urged government not impose restrictions on azadari in the name of security. He made it clear that this is not a sectarian issue but security officials were now creating hurdles. He alerted the government and security to behave like saner authorities instead of acting like biased officials. He demanded withdrawal of all FIRs against azadars and azadari. He urged religious scholars should know that Azadari could be protected through azadari and he announced he could share details of this in future with them.
Allama Sajid Naqvi said that Shia Muslims of Pakistan made countless sacrifices for national security and unity of Muslims in Pakistan hence nobody should deny legitimate rights of Shia Muslims in Pakistan.
Allama Sajid Naqvi also condemned Indian atrocities on people of Indian-held Kashmir.
