MQM Should Look to Shiites for Patience and Perseverance
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supremo Altaf Hussain on Monday slandered Pakistan and its establishment to include Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, D.G Rangers Bilal Akbar, chanting slogans against Pakistan alleging it as “a cancer for the entire world”.
Later, Altaf Hussain on Tuesday apologized for his libelous speech, claiming to be under immense mental stress over extra-judicial arrests and precarious condition of his workers sitting at the hunger strike camp.
The speech incited violence and activists chanting pro-MQM slogans ransacked two media houses par their supremo’s demand. At least one person died and a dozen others were wounded in an attack reminiscent of the May 12 assault on a private channel, drawing condemnation along with directives for immediate arrest of culprits from the army chief.
HATS-OFF TO SHIITE FOR THEIR PATIENCE
Shiites in Pakistan, with a population of 60 million, have given 20,000 martyrs at the hands of prevailing militancy in the country, subjugated and oppressed for voicing against tyranny. They suffer with escalation in targeted killings of shitte leaders and large-scale bombings of Shia neighborhoods, and impending genocide perpetrated by sectarian terrorist groups.
History is evident, Shiites recorded the most protests in the country, agitation, rallies, long-marches, sit-ins, to mention the country’s longest hunger strike.
Sit-ins lasting 4 to 5 days but never the chronicles ever reveal a single Shia going against the state or uttering ‘Anti-Pakistan Sentiments’.
Shiites claim that their Imams orated to stand against tyranny not with treason. This remains the reason that despite martyrdom of their senior lawyers, engineers, professors, clerics, men, women, children on a regular basis; they always stood by their native land pledging solidarity for the State. They have protested oppression, subversion using their democratic right, but have never gone to the extend to malign their own country.
Their protests in any manner is PRO-PAKISTAN demanding a ‘Terror-Free State’ with slogans to ‘Rid Pakistan of Terrorism’.
The past has recorded unprecedented events, where shiites have suffered immensely both at the hands of Militants and State Patronized Banned Organizations as well. A few worth mentioning are as below:

Though Shiites have witnessed calamities beyond imagination, they have never left their Imam’s teaching of patience and righteousness. Shiites seems enlightened of the fact that the State is run by people and corruption only infiltrates humans whereby they have always protested against regimes but never the country itself.
