MWM, PTI, PAT Gatherings Under Serious Threat, Militancy Anticipated

The Punjab Ministry of Interior issued a threat alert the other day, anticipating a terrorist attack on processions, rallies, protest and gatherings of opposition parties.

Sources have revealed that the Ministry has sent out circulars to DCOs in varied districts of Punjab, informing them of the prevailing threat and advising to liaise with the political party leaders in developing a fool proof security plan.

The circular, in particular, mentioned Majlis Wahdat ul Muslimeen (MWM), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) gatherings of any nature are considered the main target.

The DCOs are advised to ensure that the gathering lest it be a protest, rally, procession, sit-in should be ensured in an uncluttered open area to minimize the threat to the least.
