ELection Tribunal Takes Notice of MWM, GB Election to be Held Again

Gilgit Baltistan Election Tribunal (GBET) declared Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Elections 2016 null and void due to irregularities reported, they announced new elections to be held soon.

MWM candidate Ali Haider challenged the recent amendement in Election regarding “show of hand”, which was accepted by the GBET. GB Election Tribunal (GBET) realized the legality of the matter giving away a verdict of re-election earliest. They said the previous Councillor Elections results are null and void, salaries of members is to be stopped immediately, new date of election will be announced soon.

Justice Muhammad Alam, while hearing the case, said that any amendment has to come prior announcing of dates, “Show of Hands” was introduced after the date was already set for the plebiscite.
