Police claim foiling terrorism plot, TTP commander arrest

Police on Monday claimed to have foiled a terrorism plot by conducting a targeted raid on an alleged hideout of militants in the Manghopir area and seizing explosive material, arms and ammunition.“Police carried out a search operation in an alleged hideout of a local commander of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Ihsanullah Mehsud, in Sultanabad,” said Karachi-West SSP Pir Mohammed Shah.

Speaking at a press conference at his office, the police officer claimed that they had received information that the TTP (Abid Muchar group) was planning a terrorist act in the metropolis.

During the operation, the police seized eight hand grenades, 40kg explosive material, four SMGs, two rifles, three pistols and six rocket launchers from the hideout of the militant commander.

In other raids in the Manghopir area, the police detained 35 suspects for questioning.
