Mufti Naeem challenges Zia ul Haq’s Zakat Ordinance Terming it “Impermissible”

Jamia Banoria Patron Mufti Muhammad Naeem condemned Zakat deducted in banks and other financial institutions par their criteria, terming it “Not permissible”.

Mufti sb decreed that a person is ordained to ensure Zakat reaches the rightful owner and the criteria defined for zakat in islam varies every year with product and its cost, therefore, it is not rightful for a muslims to let his zakat fall in banks hand.

Deduction of Zakat at banks was first institutionalized by General Zia ul Haq. Mufti sb term and proclaim Zia as their Amir ul Momineen yet condemning his act after this many years.

The only objection that came forth in those years against this Act was of Allama Mufti Jafar Hussain, who led the shiite commune in getting this Zakat Free leeway, exercised by Shias in Banks till date.

Mufti Naeem advised Zakat rates per Wheat as Rs.100, Oat as Rs. 280, Dates as Rs.525 and Raisin as Rs.1540 per person.
