Civil society wrote the message in support of solidarity with Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Hunger Strike

Over 80,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives to the relentless spate of terrorism in the country. While fellow countrymen from all religious & political denominations have suffered from this curse, it is an undeniable fact that Shia Muslims have been at the frontline of this battle for survival of Pakistan.

Just last week Pakistan’s brave son & leading civil society activist Khurram Zaki was shot dead in Karachi.

A day earlier, 4 Shia Muslims had been murdered in two separate incidents in Dera Ismail Khan.

These incidents were followed by the killings of 3 unarmed protestors by Frontier Corps in Parachinar.

Leading religious figures Allama Nasir Abbas Jaffery & Allama Hasan Zafar Naqvi went on a hunger strike, protesting peacefully against this Shia genocide.

Delegations from almost all religious and political parties have visited their camp in Islamabad and expressed solidarity.

They are in the 9th day of their hunger strike & it is quite unfortunate that their protest has not received the media attention it deserves.

With this letter, we appeal to the media houses and the journalist fraternity to kindly take notice of this protest & accord it the airtime it deserves.

This is a battle for the future of all of us.

We must stop all kinds of violence in this land of the pure we call home.
