Sheikh Rasheed fails to get MWM withdrawn in his favour from NA 55
Sheikh Rasheed, Chief of Awami Muslim League, has failed to convince the leadership of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen to withdraw its candidate in his favour from the NA-55. He met Allama Amin Shaheedi, deputy secretary general of the MWM at the office of the latter where MWM’s candidate from NA-55 namely Saeed Rizvi, MWM officials Allama Asghar Askari, Fida Hussain, Masroor Naqvi and Hussain Zaidi were also present. Sheikh Rasheed requested Allama Shaheedi to withdraw Saeed Rizvi in his favour. Allama Shaheedi replied that the MWM’s political council would decide what to do on his request. However, he informed Sheikh Rasheed that he was totally unpopular among Shia Muslims because he voiced no protest against the injustices done to Shiites. He informed him about the Shiites complaints that Sheikh Rasheed was not seen at any sit-in, rally or protest that were staged in all over Pakistan to condemn the massacre of Shia Muslims in Hazara Town and Alamdar Road Quetta, Abbas Town Karachi and genocide of Shiites in Gilgit-Baltistan and elsewhere in the country. Sheikh Rasheed admitted that the complaints were legitimate and in future he shall stand shoulder to shoulder with the Shia Muslims.
