Shia Ulema Council says participation in elections is a duty

molana nazir taqviShia Ulema Council Sindh chapter’s secretary general Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi has said that participation in the Elections is a duty of all.

“To play an active and effective role in the elections is a responsibility that we all have to shoulder,” he said speaking at a Scholarly Sitting held under the aegis of Jamia Roohaniat Sindh at Hujjatiya Seminary in the holy city of Qom.

He said that since 1986 to date, his party has played a dynamic role in the politics and electoral politics of Pakistan. He said that martyr Allama Arif Hussain announced playing active role in politics in 1986.

“Since then, we never remained silent. History of Pakistan bear witness we played active political role in making or breaking of the government,” he said recalling his party’s alliance with the PPP and the PMLN that formed governments twice.

Saqib Naqvi of Al Baseerah also spoke. He urged the Shia Muslims to participate in the elections to serve people as a whole. He said that Shia parties should not confine them to sectarian-related affairs but they should play a big role to build Pakistan as mainstream parties.

“Shia Muslims are to safeguard Pakistan. Shia parties slogans should be based on service to all,” he urged.
